Sudden Death of Indian Factory Manager at Workplace in Edo

A 47-year-old Indian national, identified as Kalidass Arunachalam, tragically collapsed and died suddenly while on duty at a factory in Edo State.

The incident occurred on Friday morning at Green Hills Agricultural Products Ltd in Ologbo, located within the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area. Arunachalam, who served as the company’s production manager, reportedly slumped around 11:30 a.m. within the factory premises.

Colleagues immediately sprang into action, including fellow Indian staff member Tushar Tukaram Phadtare, Managing Director Suleman Dauda, and Chief Security Officer Lt. Col. Thompson Udom (retired), who coordinated emergency efforts.

Arunachalam was rushed to God’s Spring Best Care Hospital in the nearby Obaretin community. Despite urgent and sustained attempts by medical personnel, led by Dr. Kingsley Dele, to revive him, he was pronounced dead during treatment.

Hospital officials later confirmed that there were no visible signs of trauma or violence on Arunachalam’s body, which lay connected to an intravenous drip on a hospital bed.

The deceased’s remains have been placed in the mortuary as authorities work to notify the Indian Embassy, which will assist in informing his family and managing diplomatic procedures related to the case.

This sudden loss has sent shockwaves through the local workforce and raised concerns about health monitoring and emergency preparedness for expatriate staff working in Nigerian industries.
