PSG’s Achraf Hakimi Speaks Out on R@pe Allegations

Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has publicly responded to the r@pe allegations made against him in France, calling them “false” and “unfair.”

French prosecutors have requested that Hakimi stand trial over the alleged assault of a woman in 2023 — an accusation the 26-year-old Moroccan international has strongly denied.

Earlier this month, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office confirmed to AFP that it had asked the investigating judge to refer the case to a criminal court, noting: “It is now up to the investigating magistrate to decide.”

Hakimi was formally charged on March 3, 2023, and released under police supervision. The alleged incident took place on February 25, 2023. According to Le Parisien, a 24-year-old woman claimed she met Hakimi on Instagram in January of that year, exchanged messages with him for about a month, and later visited his home in Boulogne-Billancourt while his wife, actress Hiba Abouk, was on holiday in Dubai.

She alleged that Hakimi kissed her and touched her inappropriately despite her protests, before she managed to push him away and leave. She reported the incident to police the same day but initially did not file a formal complaint.

Speaking to Canal+ this week, Hakimi rejected the allegations:
“I’m calm. This false accusation was horrible and unfair. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. I know the truth will come out. I don’t blame myself for anything; those who know me understand that. I’m focusing on the important things in my life: my family and football.”

If convicted, Hakimi could face up to 15 years in prison — the maximum sentence for non-aggravated r@pe in France.

His lawyer, Fanny Colin, criticized the prosecutors’ push for a trial, calling it “incomprehensible and senseless in light of the evidence” and vowing to appeal if necessary. The woman’s lawyer, however, described the development as “an immense relief.”

Hakimi has previously claimed the case was an attempt to blackmail him. In a January interview, he said:

“When you’re successful, you become an easy target for certain people. They wanted to blackmail me, and that’s why we filed a complaint. The justice system handled things rather well.”

Hiba Abouk began divorce proceedings against Hakimi in 2023.
