The 39-year-old tennis icon and his wife, Mery Perello, 37, welcomed their second son on August 7 at Quirónsalud Palmaplanas Hospital in Palma, Mallorca, according to local media. The couple, who are already parents to two-year-old Rafa, have named their newborn Miguel, in honor of Mery’s late father, who passed away in April 2023 at the age of 63 after a long illness.
Mery and baby Miguel were discharged from the hospital on Saturday and returned home to be with family.
True to their preference for privacy, Nadal and Perello have not made an official announcement. Mery’s pregnancy only became public in April when photos revealed her growing baby bump. Similarly, the couple kept the birth of their first child under wraps until Nadal himself confirmed the news months later.
Speaking at the time of Mery’s first pregnancy, Nadal remarked:
"I’m not used to talking about my private life. We live calmer with a lower profile. I don’t expect my life will change much with it."
