Wike: I’ll Stand With Anyone Who Supports Tinubu

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he will back anyone who aligns with President Bola Tinubu, urging residents to rally behind leaders who have the capacity to deliver development and who enjoy the government’s attention.

Wike made the remarks on Thursday during the flag-off of Lot 2 of the Water Supply Projects in Karu, where he praised former FCT senator Philip Aduda and the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Maikalangu, for their contributions to the development of the territory.

Responding to Aduda’s request, Wike pledged to construct a 2km road in the Karu area, stressing that he would continue to support leaders who stand by the Tinubu-led administration. He also commended Maikalangu as “very good and hardworking,” noting that his influence had facilitated several key projects in AMAC, including the Saburi, Kabusa-Takushere, and Deidei roads.

“The chairman has access to us. Whatever he asks, we will deliver. This is the only man I know. If he returns as AMAC chairman, we will grant him whatever he wants. I don’t even care about his party; what matters is that he supports Tinubu, and anyone who supports Tinubu will have my support,” Wike said.

The minister criticized previous administrations for neglecting communities like Karu, especially in the area of water provision, while stressing that Tinubu’s government has delivered on its promise to provide potable water to satellite towns.

“We’ve had governments that stayed here for five or even eight years without giving you water. But this government made a promise and has now fulfilled it. The people of Karu must remember the government that remembers them,” he added.

Aduda, who represented the FCT in the Senate from 2011 to 2023 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lost his seat in the last general election. Maikalangu, meanwhile, is seeking re-election in February 2026 as AMAC chairman on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), having defected from the PDP in 2024.
