Dictionary.com has officially revealed its 2025 Word of the Year — “67.”
The term, which has gained popularity among Gen Alpha students, has become a viral expression with several interpretations.
According to the platform, “67” can carry different meanings depending on context. Some use it to describe something “so-so” or average, while others use it humorously to irritate their parents.
The slang even comes with a signature hand motion, where “both palms face up and move alternately up and down,” as explained by Dictionary.com.
For many kids, simply knowing or using the term signifies being part of the “cool crowd.”
The expression traces its roots to the song “Doot Doot (6,7)” by rapper Skrilla, which went viral earlier this year. In its original sense, “67” translates to “nothing” — often used to label someone or something as unremarkable or just average.
Online, the phrase has taken off in sports discussions, where fans use clips from Skrilla’s song to describe underperforming athletes.
