“Everything is being done to ensure Super Eagles qualify for the 2026 World Cup” – NFF President Ibrahim Gusau

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Ibrahim Gusau, says he is fully confident that the Super Eagles will deliver their best performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs.

Gusau expressed optimism that the team will finish top and secure qualification, noting that both the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the NFF are working tirelessly to make it happen.

“Everything is being done by the NSC and the NFF to ensure nothing is left to chance. No stone will be left unturned,” he told the NFF’s official website.

He added that the players will be inspired by the same fighting spirit that helped them score the four crucial goals against Benin Republic on the final day of the qualifiers. According to him, that momentum will propel the team to success in the playoffs.

Gusau also outlined the team’s preparations, confirming that camp will open on Sunday, 9th November, in Rabat, Morocco. “We are already in contact with the players and everyone is aligned. Every necessary preparation will be made, and the players are highly motivated by the desire of every professional footballer to play at the FIFA World Cup finals.”

The Super Eagles will take on the Panthers of Gabon in the playoffs, with the match set to hold in Rabat at either the 18,000-capacity El-Barid Stadium or the 22,000-capacity Prince Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex.

The playoff final will take place at the Stade Prince Heritier Moulay El Hassan. CAF has also announced that a draw will be held on Thursday, 30th October, to decide which of the semi-final fixtures will be assigned to each stadium.
