Dick Cheney, 46th U.S. Vice President, Dies at 84

Dick Cheney, the Republican statesman who served as Vice President under President George W. Bush, has passed away at the age of 84.

Cheney, a prominent defense figure and key architect of the second Iraq War, died on Monday night, November 3, from complications related to pneumonia as well as cardiovascular disease, his family announced in a statement.

Throughout his long career, Cheney held several significant positions in U.S. government. He served as Secretary of Defense under President George H.W. Bush, represented Wyoming in the U.S. House of Representatives, and previously worked as White House Chief of Staff to President Gerald Ford.

“Dick Cheney was a great and honorable man who taught his children and grandchildren to love their country and to live with courage, integrity, kindness, and a love for fly fishing,” the family said through spokesperson Jeremy Adler.

“We are deeply grateful for all he did for our nation, and profoundly blessed to have loved and been loved by such an extraordinary man.”
