Four Suspects Arrested Over Killing of NDLEA Officer During Ondo Raid.

Police in Ondo State have confirmed the arrest of four individuals and the recovery of a single-barrel firearm in connection with the fatal shooting of a National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officer during a recent operation.

The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday during a drug raid on a residential property in the Ita’nla area of Ondo town. The NDLEA officer, who was part of the state command, was reportedly providing security for the team when he was shot.

According to sources, the raid was based on intelligence that suggested illicit drugs were concealed in the ceiling of the house. While some operatives entered the premises to retrieve the hidden substances, the officer remained outside on watch.

It was at this point that unknown assailants reportedly opened fire, fatally wounding the officer. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adebowale Lawal, confirmed the incident in a phone interview, stating that security forces responded swiftly after the attack.

“In the aftermath of the incident, our officers were immediately deployed to the area. Four suspects have been arrested and are now in custody,” Lawal said.

He also confirmed that a single-barrel gun believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered from the scene. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have pledged to ensure that all those involved face justice.

The officer’s body has been deposited at the morgue.
