The Public and Private Development Centre (PPDC) has launched an online application portal for its $7,500 small grant program, aimed at empowering 37 grassroots organizations across Nigeria to monitor and track public procurement processes in their respective states.
According to the organization, each selected group will receive a $300 grant to support their efforts in promoting transparency and accountability in public spending at the local level.
PPDC CEO, Lucy Abagi, announced the initiative during a press conference held on Thursday in Abuja. She confirmed that the application portal will open on August 1 and remain active for two weeks, with the entire program scheduled to conclude by December 2025.
To be eligible, applicants must be registered organizations with a physical office, and must provide evidence of experience in monitoring and tracking procurement activities within their states.
“This initiative, launched in partnership with Devon Technologies via the Budeshi platform, is designed to support community advocates—whether public procurement monitors, grassroots organizations, or citizen advocates—who are committed to tracking public projects and ensuring that essential services reach underserved communities,” Abagi explained.
She added that the Budeshi Grant Application Portal is a fully transparent and digital system, built to assist local organizations in applying for and managing the grant.
“Powered by PPDC and developed by Devon Technologies Ltd, this platform ensures that the grant process is inclusive, accountable, and citizen-centered—from registration to final reporting,” she said.
