Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ sentencing set for October 3 despite requests for earlier date

The judge presiding over Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ federal trial has scheduled his sentencing for October 3, rejecting requests from both the prosecution and defense to move the date earlier.

Combs, 55, was denied bond last week following his conviction on prostitution-related charges, though he was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering. The verdict reportedly earned him a standing ovation from fellow inmates upon his return to the Brooklyn federal lockup where he remains jailed.

“They all said, ‘We never get to see anyone who beats the government,’” Combs’ attorney Marc Agnifilo told The Associated Press shortly after the jury’s decision.

Initially, the defense submitted a letter indicating both parties agreed to a September 22 sentencing date. However, they later filed another letter proposing the court’s original date of October 3, which the judge subsequently approved along with other scheduling matters.

Combs faces a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison for each of the two counts he was found guilty of. Having already served 10 months in custody, that time will be credited toward his eventual sentence.
