Woman Arrested for Setting Ex-Boyfriend’s House on Fire



A 27-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly setting fire to her ex-boyfriend’s home in Limpopo, South Africa.

The incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, in Steve Biko, Phase 4, within the Villa Nora policing area.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the victim was asleep when his former girlfriend came to the house and began knocking on the door. After he refused to let her in, she reportedly began smashing the windows.

The man alerted neighbors for help, but during the commotion, the suspect allegedly set the house ablaze.

Police were called to the scene and opened a case of arson. Investigations began immediately, leading to the swift arrest of the suspect.

The estimated damage from the fire, including destroyed belongings, is valued at R520,000.

The accused appeared before the Phalala Magistrate’s Court on Monday, July 28, 2025, to face an arson charge. Police investigations are ongoing.
