The just-concluded Youth Week 2025, hosted at Catholic Youth Organization Nigeria. {CYON} Annunciation Parish Abraham Adesanya Estate Ajah Lagos. has been described as one of the most impactful and inspiring editions yet. The week-long celebration, "Themed : Shine Be the Light. Matthew 5 :14” brought together hundreds of young people for activities that combined fun, learning, creativity, and service to the community.
The program aimed to inspire self-discovery, foster leadership skills, and strengthen the faith of the youth and engagement in societal development. The event brought together over 100 CYON members and parishioners from various groups in the church.
From the very first day, the atmosphere was electric. The opening ceremony featured vibrant music, energetic dance performances, old school day, and Thanksgiving in both 2nd and 3rd Mass
Throughout the week, a variety of programs kept participants engaged. Seminars and workshops on entrepreneurship, mental health, leadership, and digital skills equipped the youths with practical knowledge for life beyond the classroom. Many attendees noted how these sessions opened their eyes to opportunities they had previously overlooked.
The spirit of service also shone brightly. In line with the theme, participants carried out a community service project. No Youth Week would be complete without Cooking competition, and this year’s youth week cooking event was on another level.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mrs. Sandra Inwere Who gave a lecture on health Talk, commended the youths for their discipline, creativity, and passion.
“This Youth Week has shown that when young people are given the right platform, they can rise to greatness and inspire real change in their communities,” she noted.
As the curtains fell, participants left with renewed hope, stronger friendships, and the determination to continue being agents of positive change.
Truly, Youth Week 2025 was not just a celebration—it was a movement of empowered young minds ready to shape the future.
