Nollywood: AGN Sets Up Asset Recovery Panel

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), the umbrella body for professional screen actors in Nollywood, has inaugurated an Asset Recovery Panel.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the National President of AGN, Dr. Emeka Rollas, unveiled the three-man committee during an interactive session with the guild’s Board of Trustees (BOT) on Wednesday in Abuja. The meeting also doubled as the formal presentation of the guild’s new national secretariat to the BOT.

The panel is chaired by Onwurah Ifeanyi, with Garba Muazu as Secretary and Sydney Diala as a member.

Rollas explained that the panel’s mandate includes recovering and safeguarding AGN’s assets currently in “wrong hands” while preventing future cases of mismanagement.

He said:
“Over the past two decades, the Guild has lost numerous valuable assets—cars, buses, furnished offices, landed properties, equipment, and other resources—through mismanagement or wrongful appropriation by past leaders.

“To protect our future and deter such practices, we have established the AGN Asset Recovery Panel. This committee has the authority to trace, identify, and reclaim these assets, whether financial, material, or infrastructural, working with government agencies like the Police, EFCC, and ICPC. This effort will not only restore what belongs to us but also strengthen accountability and integrity within the Guild.”

The president, serving out his final term, also confirmed that in line with the AGN constitution, the BOT has inaugurated a National Electoral Committee to oversee the next national election.

Rollas expressed deep gratitude to the BOT for their support:
“It is with profound honour that I present our Guild’s office to the Registered Board of Trustees today. I sincerely thank the Board for the trust placed in me and for giving me the privilege to serve as president over the past seven years.

“Together, we have fostered unity, healed divisions, and made the Guild respected locally and internationally. We have introduced affordable health plans for members and launched the AGN Super App, which provides rewards, opportunities, and access to vital information.”

In his response, BOT Secretary Sonny McDon praised Rollas and his team for their dedication to the Guild’s progress.

“As Trustees, we are proud of your leadership and achievements. Against all odds, you have lived up to expectations, and we fully support your administration,” he said.
