Nigeria’s Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has revealed that she currently has no official office to operate from.
Onyejeocha made the disclosure while accompanying the Minister of Labour and Employment, Mohammed Dingyadi, on an inspection tour of an uncompleted seven-storey building in Abuja. The property, previously seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from a convicted public official, was handed over to the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).
She explained that her former office space had been reassigned to other ministries, with no alternative provided for her use.
Meanwhile, the NDE, a parastatal under the Labour Ministry, has been operating from a rented apartment in Abuja’s Wuse Zone 1 for the past 30 years. Its Director-General appealed to the ministers to push for the speedy release of funds to complete the new office complex.
