Inter Miami forward Luis Suárez has revealed his dream of ending his career at the same time as longtime friend and former Barcelona teammate, Lionel Messi.
The pair, who formed one of Europe’s most feared attacking partnerships at FC Barcelona, have reunited in Major League Soccer and continued to shine for Inter Miami over the past two seasons.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the Uruguayan striker admitted he has often discussed retirement plans with Messi.
“We’re both at a stage where our decisions depend on ourselves and our families. Of course, I’d love to retire with him — we’ve talked about it for years — but it depends on what each of us decides,” Suárez said.
“I’m happy here, I feel good physically, and if the club wants me to retire here, there won’t be any problem.”
Suárez acknowledged that he sometimes demands more of himself on the pitch but remains focused on contributing to the team’s success. “I know I can give more. I want to help Inter grow, win games and titles. Individually, we’ll see later — football guarantees nothing. For now, I just want to enjoy this stage and then see what the future brings.”
