Tennis icon Novak Djokovic has officially joined as a co-owner of Le Mans FC, a French football club recently promoted to Ligue 2.
The club revealed this high-profile investment on Friday, noting that Djokovic is part of a larger group of stakeholders that also includes former Formula 1 drivers Felipe Massa and Kevin Magnussen.
This strategic acquisition is led by OutField, an international consortium based in Brazil and co-founded by Pedro Oliveira. Other notable figures involved include Georgios Frangulis, CEO of the global health-food company OakBerry.
Le Mans FC praised Djokovic as “the most successful player in history,” emphasizing that his mental toughness, competitive spirit, and unique pursuit of excellence will significantly enrich the club’s culture and ambitions.
The club also highlighted the importance of bringing in Massa and Magnussen—who have 15 and 10 seasons of F1 experience respectively—pointing out their role in connecting football with motorsport, a unique strength of the Le Mans brand.
This move marks another off-court venture for Djokovic as he expands his presence in sports and business.
Le Mans FC, which has experienced a turbulent journey in French football, is scheduled to begin its Ligue 2 season on August 9 with an away game against Guingamp.
