US Reviewing Visas of 55 Million Foreign Nationals for Possible Violations

The United States government has announced that it is reviewing the records of more than 55 million foreign nationals holding valid U.S. visas to identify potential violations.

According to the State Department, all U.S. visa holders — including tourists — are subject to “continuous vetting” to determine whether they remain eligible to enter or stay in the country.

Officials explained that if new information emerges showing ineligibility, the visa will be revoked. For those already in the U.S., such findings could result in deportation.

The State Department highlighted possible red flags, including overstaying the authorized period, involvement in criminal activities, threats to public safety, or ties to terrorist organizations.

“We review all available information as part of our vetting process, including law enforcement and immigration records, as well as any information that comes to light after visa issuance indicating potential ineligibility,” the department stated.
