Hollywood filmmaker Tim Burton and Italian actress Monica Bellucci have officially ended their relationship after more than two years together.
In a joint statement released on Friday, September 19, the pair announced their separation, writing: “It is with much respect and deep care for each other that Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton have decided to part ways.” No reason for the breakup was disclosed.
The couple first sparked romance rumors in 2023, nearly two decades after meeting at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006. Bellucci later confirmed their relationship in an interview with Elle France, describing Burton as a rare and meaningful connection in her life.
Their collaboration extended to the big screen when Burton cast Bellucci in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024). Their final public appearance together was on June 14 at the Taormina Film Festival in Italy.
Burton, 66, was previously in a long-term relationship with actress Helena Bonham Carter, with whom he shares two children. Bellucci, 59, was married to French actor Vincent Cassel from 1999 to 2013 and later dated French artist Nicolas Lefebvre.
