A Florida man convicted of r@ping and k!lling his neighbor nearly three decades ago was executed on Tuesday evening — marking the state’s record 15th execution this year.
Norman Mearle Grim Jr., 65, was pronounced de@d at 6:15 p.m. after receiving a three-drug lethal injection at Florida State Prison near Starke, according to the office of Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.
Grim was convicted of s£xual battery and first-degree murd£r in the 1998 de@th of Cynthia Campbell, whose body was discovered in the waters near the Pensacola Bay Bridge after she was reported missing in July of that year.
Investigators said Campbell had suffered severe blunt-force trauma to the head and face, consistent with hammer blows, and had been stabbed 11 times in the chest — seven of the wounds piercing her heart. DNA evidence linked Grim to the crime.
Since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1976, Florida’s previous record for executions in a single year was eight, set in 2014. The state now leads the nation in executions for 2025, followed by Texas and Alabama with five each.
Governor DeSantis has already signed warrants for two additional executions scheduled for next month.
