A dismissed Catholic nun, Rev. Sr. Anastasia Kinse, has claimed she possesses evidence proving she was sexually harassed by a priest but has chosen not to make it public.
Speaking during an interview on Prime Time, an Arise Television programme, on Monday, Kinse alleged that her dismissal from Veritas University in Abuja was a consequence of exposing sexual misconduct within the Catholic Church.
“I find it amusing when people ask for evidence. In today’s world, calling names or making public accusations doesn’t always make sense,” she said.
“It’s not that I don’t have proof of being sexually harassed by a priest — I do — but I cannot make them public. I have both video and audio recordings showing where the Veritas University Head of Department harassed me.”
Kinse, who served under the Auchi Catholic Diocese in Edo State, explained that she joined the Congregation of the Mother of Perpetual Help of the Archangels Sisters in 2015 but soon faced numerous challenges, which she often reported to her Superior-General and Bishop.
She recounted several troubling experiences with priests, including one who allegedly tried to touch her inappropriately after she entered his room, another who invited her to spend a week at his parish, and one who put his belt around her waist while measuring her for clothes — an act she described as traumatic.
“That incident broke me and caused deep emotional pain, which they later dismissed as madness,” she added.
