Jennifer Lopez has opened up about her past relationships and how her most recent divorce turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
In a candid conversation on SiriusXM’s Howard Stern Show, the 56-year-old actress and singer reflected on her 2024 split from Ben Affleck, describing it as a major turning point in her life.
“When I got divorced this last time, it was the best thing that ever happened to me,” Lopez said. “Because it really made me go on a journey. I had a religious coach, a therapist, a couple’s therapist, an individual therapist — even a coach to understand addiction. I had everything. I was like, ‘I’m gonna figure this out if it kills me.’”
The Hustlers star — who has been married four times, including to Marc Anthony (2004–2014) and Ben Affleck (2022–2024) — admitted that despite all her relationships, she’s never truly felt loved.
When asked by Stern if she believed she’s ever experienced “real love,” Lopez responded, “No.”
She explained that while she knows how to love deeply, she often struggled to receive the same in return.
“What I learned is, it’s not that I’m not lovable — it’s that they’re not capable,” she said. “They gave me what they had. They gave me everything — the rings, the houses, the marriages — but they just didn’t have it in them.”
Having gone through therapy and deep self-reflection, Lopez said she now feels more grounded and confident than ever.
“I can sit here in a much more self-assured, self-aware way,” she shared. “I’ve looked at everything — my parents, my childhood, how I learned to love, where I felt neglected — and I finally know who I am. I really appreciate that person and feel comfortable being myself, both the good parts and the complicated ones.”
