Former U.S. First Lady, Melania Trump, is facing a new legal battle as journalist and author Michael Wolff has filed a defamation lawsuit against her. Wolff accuses Melania of attempting to block the release of his upcoming tell-all book about her life.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Wolff alleges that Melania “deliberately and maliciously interfered” with his publishing agreement and defamed him through public statements concerning his forthcoming book, “The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump (Redux).”
The journalist claims that Melania and her team circulated false statements accusing him of fabricating interviews, intimidating sources, and “manufacturing lies for profit.” Wolff contends that these actions scared off international distributors, resulting in the loss of a multi-million-dollar publishing deal.
He further asserts that he possesses evidence proving Melania personally instructed a PR firm to contact media outlets and threaten legal action if they publicized or reviewed his upcoming book — describing the move as a “calculated effort to ruin his reputation and livelihood.”
As part of the lawsuit, Wolff included a letter from Melania’s attorneys demanding he retract and apologize for comments he made to The Daily Beast, where he linked her to convicted s3x offender Jeffrey Epstein. In that interview, Wolff alleged that Melania was “very involved” in the Epstein case and hinted she might have been a connection between Donald Trump and Epstein — claims her lawyers have dismissed as “false and defamatory.”
Wolff is now asking the court to declare that his book’s contents are not defamatory and to rule that Melania Trump would be liable for damages if she continues any attempts to block, intimidate, or interfere with its publication.
Representatives for Melania Trump have yet to respond to the allegations.
