Wike’s Aide, Lere Olayinka, Fires Back at Critics Over Minister Taking Sons to Official Dubai Event

Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has responded to critics who faulted his boss for bringing his sons along to an official engagement in Dubai.

Wike recently attended the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayor’s Forum in Dubai as part of the Nigerian delegation, accompanied by his two sons, Jordan and Joaquin.

Photos of the Minister with his children at the event circulated on social media, sparking backlash from some Nigerians who described their inclusion in the delegation as inappropriate.

Reacting to the criticism, Olayinka took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to defend the Minister, dismissing the negative comments and calling out those he described as “haters” for attempting to politicize a personal decision.

The aide maintained that there was nothing wrong with Wike attending the event with his sons, noting that public outrage was misplaced.
