Cobra Kai actress, Alicia Hannah-Kim, has accused her co-star Martin Kove of assaulting her during an appearance at Summer Con in Washington on Sunday, June 22.
According to a police report, Hannah-Kim, 37, said she approached Kove, 78, at their shared booth to greet him with a light tap on the shoulder. She claims Kove suddenly grabbed her arm and bit her upper arm so hard it nearly drew blood, causing her to cry out in pain. The report adds that Kove then grabbed her arm again and kissed the same area where he had bitten her.
Hannah-Kim and her husband, actor Sebastian Roché, immediately confronted Kove about the alleged assault. Kove reportedly became defensive and insisted he had done nothing wrong. Hannah-Kim then sought out on-site law enforcement, who observed a “very noticeable bite mark” on her arm that was “already turning blue and bruising.”
When questioned by the officer, Kove allegedly admitted to biting Hannah-Kim but claimed it was done “in jest,” saying they often play-fight on the Cobra Kai set and he didn’t consider it serious. Hannah-Kim reportedly told Kove she was upset and in genuine pain. Both she and the officer informed him that his actions were inappropriate and could be considered illegal. Kove allegedly responded that he "did not mean for it to be perceived that way" and was simply "messing around."
Although Hannah-Kim chose not to press charges, she requested that an official report be filed in case the behavior continued. She and her husband signed affidavits, and a case number was issued. Kove and his son declined to provide a written statement and were escorted out of the venue at the discretion of a Cobra Kai producer present at the event.
Martin Kove is best known for his role as John Kreese in The Karate Kid franchise and reprised the role in Netflix’s Cobra Kai, which ran for six seasons. Hannah-Kim joined the series in season five as Kim Da-Eun.
