Rymir Satterthwaite has withdrawn his federal lawsuit against Jay-Z, whom the 30-year-old claims impregnated his late mother, Wanda Satterthwaite, in the 1990s.
“I did withdraw my case,” Rymir confirmed in an Instagram video posted on July 27, explaining that he dropped the suit because there was "a lot going on behind closed doors."
“I haven’t stopped my fight,” the aspiring musician added. “We have to step back and play chess, not checkers.”
For years, Rymir has asserted that Jay-Z is his biological father and recently filed a lawsuit to that effect.
However, in a court filing dated June 16, Jay-Z’s attorneys (real name Shawn Carter) strongly denied Rymir’s paternity claims.
“The fabricated allegations and claims have been addressed—and rejected—in multiple other courts,” the documents stated, describing the federal lawsuit as “just the latest” episode in what Jay-Z’s legal team called “decades-long harassment.”
Additionally, Jay-Z’s lawyers argued that Rymir’s federal suit was “not properly served,” noting that the music mogul—who shares daughter Blue Ivy, 13, and twins Rumi and Sir, 8, with wife Beyoncé—did not learn of the lawsuit until a month after it was filed in May.
In response to the lawsuit, Jay-Z’s attorneys requested more time from the court to “evaluate the Complaint and determine how to respond or otherwise plead.”
Meanwhile, Rymir clarified in his complaint that he is not seeking child support but is pursuing damages for emotional distress and reputational harm. He alleges Jay-Z “committed fraud upon multiple courts, misrepresented facts, interfered with procedural due process, and exploited legal systems in multiple jurisdictions to suppress Plaintiff Rymir’s paternity claim.”
