"Man in Kogi murders woman after she declines his marriage proposal for her daughter"

 

The Kogi State Police Command has apprehended a man named Yayu Musa for allegedly murdering a 50-year-old woman, Atayi Abdul, in Olla Community, Omala Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly took place on Friday, July 25, around 8:00 p.m., when the suspect allegedly lured the victim to her farm, claiming that thieves were stealing palm fruits.

Upon reaching the farm, Musa is said to have attacked and fatally stabbed the woman with a knife.

Police detectives were quickly dispatched to the scene, where they documented the crime scene with photographs.

The suspect was subsequently arrested and is currently being held in custody.

Police sources revealed that the victim’s family declined to have the body taken to the hospital for an autopsy, choosing instead to proceed with an immediate burial following religious and cultural customs.

In response to rising tensions in the community, the command has deployed joint security patrols to maintain peace and prevent any breakdown of law and order.

While investigations into the motive behind the killing continue, a family member, Lawal Abdulazeez Muhammed, stated that the suspect carried out the attack after the victim refused his request to marry her daughter.
