Super Eagles’ head coach, Eric Chelle, has released his final 23-man squad for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
The squad is made up of three goalkeepers, seven defenders, six midfielders, and seven forwards. The team is scheduled to depart Nigeria for Zanzibar on Thursday, July 24, to continue preparations for the tournament.
Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles have been placed in Group D alongside defending champions Senegal, as well as Congo and Sudan.
In their last CHAN outing in 2018, the Super Eagles reached the final but were defeated 4–0 by hosts Morocco.
This year’s edition of CHAN will take place from August 2 to August 30. The tournament was initially set to hold earlier in the year but was postponed by CAF on January 14 to give hosts more preparation time and to complete the final qualifying phase. Concerns had been raised over delays in venue readiness, particularly in Kenya.
