As PDP Fell, So Shall APC – Mahdi Shehu says

Human rights activist and public affairs commentator, Mahdi Shehu, has cautioned that the All Progressives Congress (APC) could soon suffer the same political downfall that befell the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), warning that any government built on arrogance and injustice is bound to collapse.

Shehu issued the warning in a post shared Tuesday morning on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Drawing parallels between the PDP’s fall after 16 years in power and what he described as the APC’s increasing disregard for Nigerians, Shehu wrote:

“Whatever goes up must surely come down. Just as the PDP rose and fell due to pride and betrayal, the APC is now treading the same path.”

He recalled how in 2008, then-PDP National Chairman Vincent Ogbulafor boasted that the party would rule Nigeria for 60 years — a claim that proved hollow when the party eventually collapsed under its own arrogance.

“God showed them who truly holds power. The same fate awaits the APC if they refuse to change,” he warned.

Shehu further accused the APC of weakening national institutions, intimidating citizens, and taking the Nigerian people for granted, insisting that such attitudes always lead to political ruin.

Citing a biblical passage to buttress his point, he wrote:

Psalm 37:10 says, ‘A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.’”
