Governor Abiodun Gifts Super Falcons ₦50 Million Ahead of Benin Clash

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has announced a ₦50 million cash gift to the Super Falcons ahead of their crucial second-leg 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Benin Republic’s Amazons in Abeokuta.

The governor shared the news on Facebook on Tuesday, October 27, following a reception for the female national team at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Monday.

“We were delighted to welcome the Super Falcons to our office ahead of their second-leg WAFCON 2026 qualifier against the Amazons of Benin Republic,” Abiodun wrote. “In recognition of their inspiring performances and to further motivate them for the challenge ahead, we are providing a support package of ₦50 million to the team.”

He added that the Falcons’ return to the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta reflects the success of Ogun State’s investment in sports development.

“Their return to the stadium is proof that our efforts in sports development are yielding positive results in Ogun State,” the governor said.
