Senator Ned Nwoko has sparked controversy online after stating that he feels “sorry for men with just one wife,” arguing that polygamy provides men with greater “stability and balance.”
The Delta North lawmaker made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday, October 26, while addressing questions about his marriage and the reported tension with his actress wife, Regina Daniels.
When asked how he manages life with four wives — a feat many consider challenging — Nwoko replied confidently:
“That’s a different topic entirely, but yes, every man should try it. Imagine standing on one leg — it’s tough. But when you stand on two, three, or four, you’re more balanced. That’s how I see it. I feel sorry for men who have only one wife; it’s like standing on one leg.”
Responding to the interviewer’s comment that the Bible does not support polygamy, the senator countered, “The Old Testament does. I’m a man of faith. But that’s not today’s discussion.”
Asked if he regrets his marital decisions, Nwoko said firmly, “No, I have no regrets. I’d do the same thing again. Everyone should marry who they want to marry.”
He also dismissed allegations of domestic abuse made against him by Regina Daniels, who had recently shared emotional posts hinting at mistreatment.
“Come on, I’m not a violent person. I respect my wives. I love them and my children,” he said.
His comments came shortly after Regina Daniels unveiled her new mansion on Instagram, amid growing speculation about a possible separation.
The Nollywood star had posted photos and videos of her new home with the caption: “In my house, I am a Queen! I wanted a roof over my head, so I got this for me and my family.”
Her post followed a viral video from October 18 showing her in tears outside her Abuja residence, lamenting that she could no longer endure the alleged violence.
“In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing. But in my own house, I am a Queen. I can’t stand the violence anymore,” she said in the clip.
The couple’s six-year marriage — once a topic of fascination in Nollywood due to their age gap — now appears strained, with both parties publicly addressing the situation in contrasting tones.
