WAFCON 2026Q: Benin Can’t Stop Super Falcons — Nnadoziel

Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has expressed confidence that the Benin Republic cannot stop Nigeria from qualifying for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The defending champions will take on the Amazons of Benin today in the first leg of the final qualifying round at the Stade de Kégué in Lomé.

Speaking during a press conference on Thursday, the Brighton shot-stopper said the Super Falcons are both mentally and physically ready for the encounter.

“From the day we found out we were going to face Benin Republic, we’ve been discussing and planning on how to beat them. We are mentally and physically prepared,” Nnadozie stated.

She added that with most of the players active in Europe this season, their strong performances at club level have boosted the team’s confidence ahead of the match.

Addressing their opponents — who defeated Sierra Leone 5–2 in the previous round — Nnadozie made it clear that the Super Falcons are not intimidated by the quality of the Benin side.

“Honestly, we don’t care who we play. We respect all our opponents, but our main focus is on our team. Football is about luck — it doesn’t matter who plays. Even if they bring their best players, we’re not bothered. That’s their concern, not ours.”

Nnadozie also took a moment to appreciate Nigerian fans for their continuous support.

“The fans have been amazing. They always travel to support us and show us love. The only way we can repay them is by winning,” she said.

She concluded with a message of gratitude and encouragement to the supporters:

“Our fans have been calm, positive, and motivating us since this fixture was announced. We just want them to keep supporting and praying for us. We’ll do our best to make them proud.”
