INEC Extends PVC Collection Period in Anambra

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an extension of the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State.

The extension comes after appeals from citizens and stakeholders seeking additional time for eligible voters to collect their cards.

In a statement issued on Monday night, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, said the exercise, originally scheduled to end on Sunday, 26 October, will now run from Wednesday, 29 October, to Sunday, 2 November 2025. The extension applies to those who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the state.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission has approved an extension of the ongoing PVC collection in Anambra State. This decision follows multiple appeals from citizens and stakeholders requesting more time for eligible voters to obtain their cards,” the statement partly read.

INEC has urged registered voters who have not yet collected their PVCs to take advantage of the extended period.

“Voters yet to collect their PVCs are encouraged to visit the designated collection centres across the 326 Registration Areas (Wards) in Anambra State,” Eta-Messi said. She further emphasized that collection must be done in person, as “no proxy collection is allowed.”

The Commission thanked residents for their cooperation and encouraged all eligible voters to prepare for the upcoming governorship election.

“INEC appreciates the patience and enthusiasm of the people of Anambra State and urges all eligible voters to use this opportunity to collect their PVCs ahead of the forthcoming governorship election,” Eta-Messi added.

Earlier on Monday, INEC declared Anambra fully prepared for the election scheduled for 8 November 2025. This declaration followed a week-long readiness assessment by a high-level team from INEC headquarters, led by the National Commissioner for Election Planning and Monitoring, Prof. Rhoda Gumus. The team reviewed facilities, logistics, and security arrangements across the state.
