The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public warning about the distribution of counterfeit Cialis 20mg tablets in Nigeria.
The agency stated that the fake tablets were identified during routine market checks carried out by the Marketing Authorization Holders’ (MAH) field representatives in Abuja.
Reports indicate that these counterfeit Cialis 20mg tablets are being sold in markets for around N8,000 per pack, significantly lower than the genuine product, which retails at approximately N55,000 per pack. Further inspection revealed that the counterfeit versions do not match the authentic Cialis 20mg in packaging or quality standards.
NAFDAC reminded the public that genuine Cialis 20mg contains tadalafil, which is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).
The agency urged healthcare professionals and consumers to report any suspected sales of substandard or falsified medicines to the nearest NAFDAC office, call 0800-162-3322, or email sf.alert@nafdac.gov.ng.
