Phil Foden takes legal action over online hoax claiming his son had d!ed and daughter was battling cancer

Manchester City and England star Phil Foden has reportedly called in his lawyers after false online rumours claimed that his six-year-old son had d!ed and his four-year-old daughter had been diagnosed with cancer.

According to Mail Online, the footballer became the target of malicious social media hoaxes, including AI-generated images that appeared to show Foden and his partner Rebecca Cooke crying alongside one of their children.

Foden’s legal team is now working closely with his management to have the fake posts and images removed from social media platforms.

One viral Facebook post falsely alleged that Foden’s eldest child, Ronnie, had passed away, while another — shared by an account named Man City Fan Lover — falsely claimed that Foden’s daughter True, aged four, had cancer. The post, titled “Phil Foden’s Heartbreaking Confession Breaking the Internet”, alleged the England international was “struggling to stay focused on football.”

Rebecca Cooke, who shares three children with Foden, including their youngest Phil Jr, addressed the disturbing fabrications on her Instagram story, condemning the lies as “sickening.”

“We are aware of the pages and accounts spreading these stories. They are completely false and very disturbing,” she wrote.

“I don’t understand how people can make up such things about anyone — especially children. It’s sickening.

We are all absolutely fine, thank God, and we appreciate everyone’s concern. Please report any posts or pages sharing these false stories.”

The family has urged social media users to help flag and remove the harmful misinformation.
