Former Arsenal and Chelsea defender William Gallas believes that the Gunners are justified in their decision not to pursue Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, despite his impressive form.

Osimhen, 26, had a remarkable loan spell at Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray last season, scoring 37 goals and providing eight assists across all competitions.

However, Gallas argues that the Napoli forward may not be the best fit for Mikel Arteta’s system.

“Victor Osimhen is a top-class striker, but I could see him clashing with Mikel Arteta,” Gallas told Prime Casino. “Viktor Gyökeres would be a better fit, but Arsenal need to win the Premier League next season—which means they should go all out for Alexander Isak.”

The 47-year-old added that Isak, who currently plays for Newcastle United, would be the ideal addition to Arsenal’s squad.

“Isak is perfect for Arsenal. He would adapt instantly and give them the best chance of winning the title. They don’t have time to let a striker settle in,” he said.
