BREAKING : Governor Alia Dissolves Benue Executive Council, Appoints Moses Atagher as Chief of Staff

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has dissolved the State Executive Council and appointed Moses Atagher, a former two-term Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, as the new Chief of Staff.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, and made available to journalists in Makurdi on Wednesday. Atagher, also a former Acting Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank, assumes office with immediate effect.

Governor Alia made the announcement at the conclusion of the 12th meeting of the Benue State Executive Council. He expressed gratitude to the outgoing commissioners for their service over the past two years, urging those who may not return to office to remain committed to the party and continue working within the system. He emphasized that this change provides opportunities for others to contribute to the state’s development.

The Governor clarified that, apart from the new Chief of Staff, the dissolution affects only the commissioners.

Speaking on behalf of the outgoing council members, former Commissioner Barr. Bemsen Mnyim thanked Governor Alia for the opportunity to serve, describing the experience as a valuable learning process.

“All positions of service are learning grounds,” Mnyim said. “We have gained much from working with you.”

The former commissioners have been instructed to hand over to the permanent secretaries of their respective ministries without delay.
