Hamas has freed all 20 surviving Israeli hostages as part of a historic prisoner exchange agreement with Israel.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed early Monday, October 13, that the hostages safely crossed back into Israel from Gaza, ending weeks of global tension and uncertainty surrounding their fate.
According to the IDF, medical teams were on standby to receive the freed captives for immediate evaluation before they were transported to hospitals across the country for further care and emotional reunions with their families.
Among those released were Alon Ohel, Guy Gilboa-Dalal, and Omri Miran — three hostages freed earlier in the day. IDF helicopters transported them to medical facilities following preliminary health checks.
Heartwarming images shared by the military showed 48-year-old Omri Miran embracing his wife, Lishay, for the first time since his abduction from their home in Nahal Oz during the Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023. Miran appeared emotional but in stable condition.
In a separate statement, Israel’s Foreign Ministry confirmed the names of 13 additional hostages freed by Hamas, including Elkana Bohbot, Avinatan Or, Yosef-Chaim Ohana, and Bar Kupershtein — who was kidnapped while working at the Nova music festival.
Meanwhile, buses carrying dozens of freed Palestinian prisoners arrived in Ramallah and Gaza, according to Hamas’s Prisoners Office. As part of the ceasefire agreement, Israel has released more than 1,900 Palestinian detainees in exchange for the hostages.
