Nottingham Forest have dismissed manager Ange Postecoglou following their 3–0 home loss to Chelsea, ending his tenure after just eight matches in charge.
In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), the club announced:
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.”
Owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly left his seat before the final whistle at the City Ground, with the news of Postecoglou’s sacking confirmed minutes after the match ended.
The Australian coach, appointed on September 9, had joined Forest fresh from winning the Europa League with Tottenham earlier this year. However, a poor run of results — six defeats and no wins in eight games — proved costly, making him the club’s third managerial casualty this season.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on October 17, Postecoglou had said confidently:
“If I’m given time at a club, it always ends with me and a trophy.”
Unfortunately, time was not on his side. Forest’s disappointing form has left them hovering near the relegation zone, prompting the club to begin an urgent search for a new manager.
Early reports suggest Sean Dyche, the former Burnley and Everton boss, is among the leading contenders to replace him.
