Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Set for Release from Prison in May 2028

Hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is expected to be released from federal prison on May 8, 2028, after serving roughly three years behind bars.

Earlier this month, Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison on two counts of interstate prostitution, with credit for time already served during his pretrial detention in the summer of 2024. The Federal Bureau of Prisons confirmed his projected release date.

Combs was acquitted of more serious charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking, after pleading not guilty and maintaining his innocence throughout the trial. He has been in custody since his arrest in September 2024.

Prosecutors had sought an 11-year sentence, but this marks Combs’ first criminal conviction. In addition to the prison term, the judge imposed a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release.

Combs’ legal team has announced plans to appeal the sentence.

During the eight-week trial, prosecutors alleged that Combs used his influence in the entertainment industry to coerce women into sexual acts involving paid sex workers. One of the alleged victims, singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, testified extensively against him.

While jurors rejected the racketeering charge, they found Combs guilty of violating the Mann Act, which prohibits crossing state lines for the purpose of prostitution.

Evidence presented in court included bank records showing payments for flights for sex workers to attend what were described as drug-fueled encounters.

Combs’ defense team acknowledged instances of violence but argued the case involved domestic abuse, not trafficking.
