The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed one fatality and the rescue of 27 individuals following the collapse of a two-storey building on Coast Street, Oyingbo, Lagos, in the early hours of Monday, October 27.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, told reporters that the agency received a distress call at 12:11 a.m. and promptly mobilised emergency responders to the scene.
“Under the supervision of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, all emergency teams, including members of the Local Emergency Management Committee, responded swiftly. Our operations were both effective and well-coordinated. So far, 21 people have been evacuated to various general hospitals where they are receiving proper medical care. In Lagos State, emergency victims are treated free of charge, and this policy is currently being applied,” he stated.
