President Bola Tinubu has announced major changes in the leadership of Nigeria’s Armed Forces.

According to a statement released on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, the move is aimed at “further strengthening the national security architecture.”

The statement, titled “Tinubu Changes Service Chiefs,” revealed that General Olufemi Oluyede has been appointed as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa.

Major-General W. Shaibu takes over as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke becomes the new Chief of Air Staff, while Rear Admiral I. Abbas assumes office as Chief of Naval Staff. The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position.
