White House timeline updated with Clinton scandal and cocaine discovery references

The Trump administration has revised the official White House website’s historical timeline — but rather than limiting the update to architectural or historical milestones, it now includes politically charged mentions of controversies involving the last three Democratic presidents.

The updated online timeline, which charts the history of the White House from its 18th-century construction to the present, now highlights incidents unrelated to the building’s structure. Among them is President Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky, which led to his impeachment.

Two events from President Joe Biden’s administration were also added: the 2023 discovery of cocaine in a White House locker — an incident the Trump administration’s site suggests was linked to Hunter Biden, despite no evidence — and the Trans Visibility Day event held on the White House lawn. The latter sparked backlash after transgender influencer Rose Montoya exposed her chest during the celebration, resulting in her being banned from the premises.

The Obama administration was not spared either. The revised timeline references a 2012 visit by Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood to the White House after the Arab Spring, illustrated with a misleading photo of Barack Obama wearing a turban. The image was actually taken in 2006 during his trip to Kenya, years before his presidency, and he never met directly with members of the Egyptian Brotherhood — making the claim inaccurate.

The updates appear to be a pointed reaction to Democratic criticism of Trump’s ongoing $250 million White House renovation project, which includes a grand ballroom. While Democrats have denounced the construction as excessive and harmful to the East Wing’s historic integrity, the administration insists the project is in line with the building’s long history of evolution.

The move has further heightened partisan tensions, potentially complicating negotiations to resolve the ongoing government shutdown.
